Free Drop-In Day brings Farnworth community together

Apr 07, 2025 | News

The Farnworth Leisure Centre and Bolton at Home teams are celebrating the success of their first-ever Community Drop-In Day, which brought together local residents and essential support services. The event featured key organisations, including Bolton College, Next Steps, Your Bolton Health, and representatives from the Greater Manchester Police Force.

Attendees enjoyed the chance to enter a prize draw for a £50 shopping voucher, and as the event drew to a close, Bolton at Home generously provided delicious pastries for everyone in attendance.

Bolton at Home’s Community Engagement Manager, Paula Rowson said:

"The Farnworth Focus Team Community Drop-in at Farnworth Leisure Centre was a great success, showcasing the extensive community support offered by Bolton at Home and our partners.

“Farnworth residents discovered valuable resources and services available to them right on their doorstep. Thanks to the venue's generous provision of free space, we were able to connect meaningfully with residents and provide information about housing support, wellbeing services, and local initiatives.”

Local Councillor Paul Sanders, who was also in attendance, commented:

"Well done to all involved in organising this successful event. It was great to see so many local people in attendance, and highlighted the huge amount of support and cross-agency work that goes on locally to help and engage our residents. This event also provided a brilliant opportunity to showcase the excellent facilities at Farnworth Leisure Centre, which received a major upgrade in 2023.”

Steve Little, Healthy Life Manager for Bolton Community Leisure Trust, said:

“Thank you to the Bolton at Home team for selecting Farnworth Leisure Centre as the venue for this drop-in day. The range of support services on offer was excellent, covering health, financial guidance, neighbourhood safety education and volunteering. I spoke to many of the people who attended, and feedback was all super positive.”

The event proved to be a wonderful example of the community coming together to share resources and support one another.
